“And I wish grandpas never died”

Music has always been part of my life. Growing up at all of our Family celebrations, we always had live music provided by my Popo (what I called my Grandpa) and friends of his. They had quite the repertoire. They played Big Band music like Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller to current hit favorites like Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet. My Popo taught me to appreciate all kinds of music even if I really did not care for it. He always said that even if I did not like it, I was to always be respectful of those that provided it.

Today would have been my Popo’s 99th birthday. His heavenly birthday is June 6, 2003.

I miss him every day. His musical influence is what gave me the idea for this blog.

Music has always spoken to me. In good times and in bad, music has always been there. I believe that we are sent what we need when we need it. And that is especially true for me with music. Happy, sad, deeply depressed or feeling like I could conquer the world there was always a song that seemed to pop up that the lyrics would fit perfectly to my situation.

So, as I write about who I am and what I am going through, I will share a lyric from a song that came just when I needed it. I cannot promise to post every day, however, I will do my best.

May music that you need find you and remind you that you are not alone.
